We need paypal pro recurring billing functionality as well

We also need this feature. I'm also adding my voice/vote so that Alex know there are a lot of people needing this.

Guys,
Testing will be finished on current week in next few days. Just need to test recurring payments in all situations. I will update this thread when plugin will be available.

Recurring Paypal_pro and fraud settings

Just a heads up.

Your paypal_pro recurring payments MAY NOT work even if the amember plugin does.

The default PAYPAL fraud settings for Paypal_pro recurring payments require that the billing system re-transmit the ccv code every time the card is to be charged.

If you don't have the extended (extra cost) fraud controls from paypal and remove this requirement you probably won't be able to use the plugin.

The reason (I'm pretty sure on this but may be different for your country) is that in North America you are not allowed to store your clients ccv codes in your database.

the result is that the first payment will go thru but when amember attempts to rebill it will be missing the ccv and the payment will fail.

If you pay the extra $30 for advanced fraud controls on you paypal_pro account you can set YOUR ACCOUNTS fraud controls so that the CCV number is NOT REQUIRED for any attempted charges after the first billing.

All I'm saying is check with PAYPAL about YOUR account before you get your hopes up.

James,
Plugin will work different way then default cc_core based plugins.
It will not resubmit transactions for recurring payments. When user will signup first time plugin will create Recurring Billing Profile at paypal, so CC info will not be stored in aMember at all.

does that need something extra enabled on Paypal Pro end, in your account? like that extra $30 fraud control feature?

No it does not require Fraud Control Feature, however as I know Paypal PRO Recurring payments itself costs $30/month in addition to WebSitePaymetns PRO costs:

thanks on your work and update on this, alexander....I thought I understood how recurring works with PayPal and ccv's as you described but it's nice to hear confirmation. I've been looking forward to this one for awhile but definitely appreciate the extra testing involved here; I could see this causing a lot of headaches if it's not fleshed out well.

Hi guys,
Plugin will be available at Sunday, August 30.
If you interested in it before next version release, please send request to support@cgi-central.net with subject:

** for Alexander Smith - PayPal Pro plugin request **

Plugin was well tested, but anyway, if you have live system, I recommend to wait for next aMember PRO release.
Plugin was tested with latest aMember 3.1.8 but should work for all old versions that have old paypal_pro plugin.

Plugin supports both ExpressCheckout and DirectPayments, with both methods CC info will not be stored in aMember database.

This plugin require both WebSitePaymetns PRO and Paypal PRO Recurring payments to be enabled in your paypal account.

"Paypal PRO Recurring payments" functionality required to create recurring subscriptions for DirectPayments (when user specify CC info in aMember)

As old plugin, this one works with API signature, and we don't plan to create plugin that will work with API cert.

Plugin make these API requests so you should enable this in API access section in your paypal account for API user:
SetExpressCheckout
GetExpressCheckoutDetails
DoExpressCheckoutPayment
DoVoid
CreateRecurringPaymentsProfile
DoDirectPayment
ManageRecurringPaymentsProfileStatus
UpdateRecurringPaymentsProfile

The never ending week

I have been in touch with Alex each week, and each time I get the same answer. "It will be ready by end of current week"

It was end of month back in 2008, and not it is end of each week so we are getting closer, i think?

Last update (this week) was that he is just working on the recuring billing section of the plugin and then its ready.

I am hoping any day now guys. All think positive and it will help.

Chris

Alex what happened to PayPal storing the card ifo.

The reason we use PayPal in the first place to offload the security to them. I thought this plugin would use PayPal recurring completely, meaning they have the information and ping our ipn monthly.

Yes and new PayPal PRO plugin works this way already.
Recurring payments are handled by PayPal and Paypal just notify aMember about transactions.

I need to use the paypal_r plugin and the paypal_pro at the same time due to some legacy subscriptions....as well, I use the resend postback feature found in the paypal_r plugin for another script. Do you think it will work to keep the ipn at PayPal to the paypal_r script and resend postback to the paypal_pro plugin?

why alex

Why does the plugin disclaimer say we need a secure SSL account and that it stores the Credit Card number in the database?

If Paypal is handling the entire process as one of the new recurring products then there is no reason for us to see or store the credit card.
