How does echecks work in Paypal's Website Payments Standard?
We recently integrated Paypal's Website Payments Standard as the payment processor, and had a couple questions about how this works with amember:
1. Since echecks take up to 3 days to clear, does a user who pays through an echeck via Paypal obtain immediate access to member content? Or does their account not become Active until the echeck clears? 2. If the account does not become Active immediately, how does the system know when their echeck clears? (how does aMember know to change their status from Pending to Active?) |

1. No, his access is delayed until money actually arrives. It is usual for PayPal.
2. PayPal will inform aMember Pro about all important events. |

Does anyone know if there is a way to override this and automatically set pending echecks as paid?
I know how to do it manually, but I'd rather not. I don't expect many people to use echecks, but I'd rather not remove it as an option - and people will just be irritated if they pay via echeck and can't access the site for 4 days. |

When I get paid by echecks the member gets access immediately and the system thinks he has paid. Then a few days later I get the cleared notification but dont notice any changes by amember but I havent had any not clear yet.

Hi David,
How did you make it do this? As Alex says above, access is delayed until it is marked as paid when the money actually arrives, and my members are not getting access until it is marked as paid. Is there some setting that needs to be changed to give members immediate access? |

I'm not sure why my version allows this- I didn't do anything... I think this was changed with the newer versions? v3.0.9

Just FYI, customer support made this change for me with no problem. Provide them with ftp access and they will make it for you overnight.
Same thing with google - if you don't want your members to have to wait until google processes the credit card (which can take a while sometimes), they can customize the plugin for you. |
